WALLDORF — SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced the launch of the SAP Connection Discovery for Public Services application, a network exploration tool with wide-ranging uses running on the SAP HANA platform.
This plug-and-play software is intended to equip civil servants both to sense and predict emergencies as they unfold. Geodata and timelines are planned to support intuitive decision making, enabling users to understand complex events quickly and react immediately with appropriate protective measures. The announcement was made at the Smart Cities Expo World Congress being held in Barcelona Nov. 15–17. Attendees can visit SAP at the conference to learn more about SAP Connection Discovery for Public Services and the SAP Future Cities program.
Connection discovery aims to use network visualization patterns in data to detect behaviors, helping public officials identify and evaluate relationships between people, objects and places in real time. Planned features for the application include seamless geodata integration and data enrichment on top of a mapping layer. The software’s user-friendly, intuitive visualizations are meant to be used in a number of public service use cases, ranging from emergency responses and investigations to disaster management.
